Forest View FD responds to 41 fires in 2017

Forest View Fire Department responded to 110 calls in 2017 - 14.7 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Forest View included 41 fires - 22 structure fires, nine vehicle fires and 10 other fires.

In all, the department saw $27,250 in fire loss - or about $665 per fire.

The department also received 69 false calls, including one malicious call and 68 other false calls.

The Forest View Fire Department had an annual budget of $17,931 in 2017.

The Forest View Firefighters Pension Fund, which has one active employee and 15 retired or inactive employees, was $342,085 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $8,552 for every fire in 2016.
