Berkeley Fire Department responded to 129 calls in 2017 - 4 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Berkeley included 43 fires - 33 structure fires, six vehicle fires and four other fires.

In all, the department saw $54,851 in fire loss - or about $1,276 per fire.

The department also received 86 false calls, including two malicious calls and 84 other false calls.
