Eighteen AMITA Health physicians rank among the top cardiologists in the Chicago area, according to a study spotlighted in the June edition of “Chicago” magazine.
The study identified a total of 138 cardiologists in the six-county Chicago metropolitan area who were recommended as top doctors by their peers. The “Chicago’s Top Cardiologists” list was compiled from a study conducted by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a health-care research and information company.
“To be recognized by your peers is among the greatest accolades a physician can receive,” said Noel Araneta, AMITA Health vice president, cardiovascular service line. “We congratulate our physicians who have earned this recognition. Their skills and experience are crucial to AMITA Health’s efforts to provide the highest-quality cardiovascular care for our patients.”

The Chicago’s Top Cardiologists list was derived from Castle Connolly’s nationwide “Top Doctors” study, in which all licensed physicians across America were invited to nominate physicians in any specialty or any part of the nation for recognition as top doctors either regionally or nationally.
“A physician you nominate should be someone you would go to or would want a family member to go -- not only because of their excellent training and clinical skills, but also because of the time, care and concern they give to their patients,” according to Castle Connolly’s nomination instructions.
Castle Connolly’s physician-led team of researchers follows a rigorous process to select top doctors on both the national and regional levels, carefully screening nominees’ educational and professional experience.
After identifying the top doctors in America, Castle Connolly provides consumers with detailed information about their education, training and special expertise. The information appears in Castle Connolly paperback guides and online directories and in Top Doctors reports in national and regional magazines. Doctors do not pay to be selected and profiled.
