Village of Berkeley Board met, May 1.

Here is the provided minutes by the Board:

1 President Lee called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

2 Pledge of Allegiance

3 Roll Call

Present: Trustees Hammar, Grenier, Graf-Stone, Washington and Perez

Absent: Trustee Diane Salemi

Also present: Village Administrator Rudy Espiritu, Assistant Village Administrator Brandiss Martin, Fire Chief Michael Kuryla, Superintendent Joe Wagner and Village Attorney Jim Binninger.

4 Presentations and Appointment

4.1 Proclamation Honoring Police Chief Phillip J. Smith for His Years of Public Service to The Village of Berkeley - President Lee read the Proclamation honoring Police Chief Smith for all of his good work within Berkeley and was given a glass plaque of appreciation. 4.2 Swearing In of New Police Chief Timothy J. Larem – Police Chief Larem thanked all of the Police Department for their support and all that they do. He also thanked his family and friends for their support.

9.4 Fire and Health (Chair – Trustee Grenier; Co-Chair Trustee Perez)

9.4.1 Trustee Liaison Report – Trustee Grenier addressed the Board that Fire Chief Kuryla will be presenting to the Board information regarding Mobile Intensive Stroke Unit. Trustee Grenier strongly recommends supporting this endeavor.

9.5 Public Works and Utilities (Chair – Trustee Hammar; Co-Chair Trustee Grenier)

9.5.1 Trustee Liaison Report – Trustee Hammar informed the Board that McDermott Drive is coming along after some delays. Superintendent Wagner will be painting hydrants, planting 30 trees, as well as installing water meters this summer. The Sweeper has been ordered and the pick- up truck is on its way.

9.6 Community and Intergovernmental Relations (Chair – Trustee Perez; Co-Chair Trustee Graf-Stone)

9.6.1 Trustee Liaison Report – Trustee Perez reminded the Board that the Chamber of Commerce is having “Night at the Races” at Hawthorne Park on May 17, 2018, dinner is included. He also reminded the Board that our golf outing is on June 14th.

10 Village President

10.1 President’s Report – President Lee provided a recap of the Berkeley Roundtable Discussion that was held the night before, where the Village’s strategic plan was presented to all of the Village’s taxing bodies and community organizations. President Lee said it went very well. He thanked all the Board members that were able to attend the meeting. President Lee thanked staff for their preparation and thanked Administrator Espiritu for his presentation. Representative Chris Welch attended the meeting, as well. President Lee also thanked everyone that attended the Baseball Parade. 10.2 Upcoming Events

11 Village Administrator –Administrator Espiritu informed the Board that the next meeting will probably have a heavier agenda due to the light agenda for today. He anticipates that he will be bringing in the updated schedule for the bids for the Flood Project, as well as the Plan of Action and possibly an updated governmental agreement for funding.

12 Village Attorney – No report

13 Public Comments and Questions

Mark Dodgson expressed his thanks for working on the residents behalf to the Board, Police Department, and the Fire Department.
