Village of North Riverside Board of Trustees met March 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Mayor Hermanek called the meeting to order with a Pledge of Allegiance and a Roll Call. In attendance were Trustee Bianco, Trustee Czajka, Trustee Demopoulos and Trustee Mengoni. Trustees Sarro and Flores were absent.

Others in attendance were Attorney Hayes, Administrator Belmonte, Police Chief Garcia, Finance Director Scarpiniti, Public Works Director Kutt, Recreation Director Mrozik and Fire Chief Gaertner.

Approval Of Agenda:

Trustee Bianco moved seconded by Trustee Mengoni to approve the agenda as presented. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Mengoni

Nays: None. Motion carried

Absent: Trustees Flores and Sarro

Bids-None

Cash Receipt Report -No report

Appoval Of Minutes:

Trustee Czajka moved, seconded by Trustee Demopoulos to approve the February 19, 2018 Village Board Meeting Minutes as presented. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Mengoni

Nays: None. Motion carried

Absent: Trustees Flores and Sarro

Report Of Trustees:

Trustee Bianco- ( Water, Sewers, Drainage & Zoning)

Trustee Bianco introduced a resident and student at Riverside Brookfield High School, Angela Przybylski, as she was invited to represent Illinois in Australia this summer for the 2018 Down Under International Games in the track and field event. Angela introduced herself and explained to all about her dream of participating in this event and has set up a website for donations to help offset the cost of the trip.

Trustee Czajka- (Judiciary, Ordinances, Recreation)

Trustee Czajka read the following Parks and Recreation report:

Recreation Department is accepting last minute registrations until tomorrow for the Mother/Son Spring Fling Dance that will take place this Friday, March 9th.

March 23rd is the Annual Bunny Bingo. Spaces sell out fast so please register soon.

The Police Benevolent Association will be doing their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31st at Commons Park with a luncheon to follow. Please reach out to the Police Department for more detail.

The North Riverside Players are gearing up for their spring production of the New Mel Brooks Musical, Young Frankenstein. Opening weekend will begin on Friday, April 27th and tickets are already on sale at www.NRPlayers.com.

Trustee Demopoulos( Streets, Alleys, Sidewalks & Garbage)

Village Engineer, John Fitzgerald has prepared the Village's 2018 CDBG Application and a resolution for passage tonight to submit to Cook County later this month. The Village is requesting a grant to replace the 3rd Avenue water main which falls within the block grant area. Attorney Hayes will cover the resolution under his report.

Trustee Flores- ( Police, Fire & License)-Absent

Trustee Mengoni- ( Finance Health & Appropriations

Trustee Mengoni called for a Finance Committee Meeting on Monday March 12th at 6:00pm.

Trustee Sarro- (Public Buildings, Grounds, lights, Transportation, Plan Commission)-Absent

Mayoral Report:

Mayor Hermanek read the following updates from the Community Development Department:

• Presales- The department performed six single-family presale inspections totaling $2,430.00 in revenue.

• The department issued 14 residential and commercial permits totaling $12,371.95 in revenue.

• Round 1- Submitted an application for remodeling the lower level of Sears, with plans to open in early 2019. Round 1 is a Japanese amusement store chain, which offers bowling, karaoke, video game arcades, billiards, darts, ping pong and food. Cost of construction is $2.9 million.

Correspondence:

No correspondence for this meeting, however Clerk Ranieri congratulated Angela Przybylski and wish her well on following her dreams.

Approval Of Bills:

Trustee Mengoni moved, seconded by Trustee Bianco to approve the list of bills submitted for this meeting totaling $565,641.45 and to have them paid out of proper funds when such funds become available. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Mengoni,

Nays: None. Motion carried

Absent: Trustees Flores and Sarro

Ordinances And Resolutions:

Trustee Demopoulos moved and Trustee seconded to approve a Resolution Authorizing the Village President and Village Clerk to Sign the CDBG 2018 Program Year Application (18-R-01) and to waive the reading. Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Mengoni

Nays: None. Motion carried

Absent: Trustees Flores and Sarro

Audience:

Marybelle Mandel asked if there would be liquor sold at the new amusement chain, Round 1. Mayor Hermanek stated there will be liquor sold at this location if they apply.

Adjournment:

Trustee Mengoni moved, seconded by Trustee Bianco for adjournment at 7:15 pm. Motion carried unanimously.
