City of Northlake Youth Commission met February 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:

Attendance: Sheila Morgan, Sharon Budzon, John Morgan, Veronica Budzon

Absent: Rebecca Morgan, Richard Martinez

Guests:

Minutes Of The January 10, 2018 Meeting:

The minutes of the, January 10, 2018 meeting were read. A motion was made by Veronica to accept the minutes with one correction. John seconded the motion. All were in favor.

Old Business:

1.Kids' Valentine's Day Craft Night -2/8/18 - Recap - Unfortunately the storm that closed schools on the 9th began about the same time as our event. It definitely kept some people from attending. We only had about 15 kids and 10 parents. As always, everyone enjoyed themselves. One couple came up to us to express their gratitude for our great kids' activities. With sadness they shared that it was their last one; they are moving out of town. People enjoy and appreciate that the City provides these events. The kids leave our Craft Nights with treat bags filled with an assortment of candy, stickers, and small toys plus all the crafts they can build. On top of that they each win a raffle prize ranging from bigger toys/games to small stuffed animals. That is a whole lot of excitement that many children would never experience if we did not provide these opportunities.

2, Easter Eggs"travaganza - This event takes place on March 24, 2018 from 11 am - 12:30pm. Veronica will order the crafts and prizes.

3. Kids' Bingo Night - We will run this event on 4/11/18. Our meeting will be moved to 5:30pm at the Sandy Vasquez Center immediately prior to the BINGO (from 6 8pm or until the prizes run out).

New Business:

1.Calendar Planning - May through the end of the year scheduling has been tabled until next month.

There was no other business discussed. Sharon moved for adjournment, seconded by John. All were in favor. Youth Commission Chairperson, Sheila Morgan, adjourned the meeting at 6:45pm.
