Village of North Riverside Board of Trustees met January 2.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
Mayor Hermanek called the meeting to order with a Pledge of Allegiance and a Roll Call. In attendance were Trustee Bianco, Trustee Czajka, Trustee Flores, Trustee Mengoni and Trustee Sarro. Trustee Demopoulos was absent.
Others in attendance were Attorney Hayes, Police Chief Garcia, Public Works Foreman Bob Skupa, Village, Recreation Director Mrozik and Fire Chief Gaertner.
Approval Of Agenda:
Trustee Bianco moved seconded by Trustee Mengoni to approve the revised agenda. Roll Call Vote:
Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro
Nays: None. Motion Carried

Trustee Czajka moved, seconded by Trustee Bianco to approve the December 11, 2017 Village Board Meeting Minutes as presented. Roll Call Vote:

Report Of Trustees:
Trustee Bianco- ( Water, Sewers, Drainage & Zoning)-
Trustee Bianco submitted the latest Brookfield North Riverside Water Commission Meeting Minutes and Agenda to Clerk Ranieri.
Trustee Czajka- (Judiciary, Ordinances, Recreation)-
Trustee Czajka read the following report from the Parks and Recreation Department:
The 2018 Winter/ Spring Fun Guide should have reached homes in mid December. If you have not received one please stop by the Recreation Department to pick up a copy.
The Youth Basketball Season is under way catering to over 414 children that make up 44 teams. Games begin Saturday January 13th going through March 18th.
Join us for the West Suburban Special Recreation Association Open House on Wednesday January 10th at 6:30pm in the Community Room. WSSRA staff will present on the agency and how it plans to serve North Riverside residents. There will also be an onsite registration form for all residents that attend. Please stop by the Parks and Recreation Department for more details.

Trustee Mengoni reminded residents about the Finance Committee Meeting on January 8, 2017 at 6:00pm.
Trustee Sarro- (Public Buildings, Grounds, lights, Transportation, Plan Commission)- No report
Mayoral Report:
Mayor Hermanek gave the following updates from the Community Development Department:
• Presales- The Community Development Department performed nine single-family and one commercial presale inspection totaling $4,193.75 in revenue.
• Permit Totals- 62 residential and commercial permits totaling $20,188.46 in revenue.
• FunFlatables- Has obtained a permit to remodel a tenant space at North Riverside Park Mall. FunFlatables is an indoor Party-n-Play center with unique year round, soft inflatable playgrounds where the whole family can have continuous fun jumping, bouncing, climbing, snaking through obstacles and soaring down slides.
• House of Hoops- Submitted an application for a remodeling permit of their current tenant space at North Riverside Park Mall. Cost of construction: $200,000.
• JL Nail Salon- Has obtained a permit to remodel a tenant space at 7921 W. Cermak Road. Cost of construction: $55,300.
• Ladies & Gentlemen- Opened a retail clothing store at 7921 W. Cermak Road.
Correspondence:
• Thank you letter from Neighborhood Service Coordinator, Carol Spale. She once again thanked the Mayor and Village Board for allotting the Christmas trees/ferns in the Village budget.
Approval Of Bills:
Trustee Mengoni moved, seconded by Trustee Bianco to approve the list of bills submitted for this meeting totaling $199,727.94 and to have them paid out of proper funds when such funds become available. Roll Call Vote:
Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro

Audience
• John Bork was concerned about the alley by is home with many patches of ice and asked if there was a reason for not salting the alleys. Public Works Foreman Skupa explained in detail that alleys are not usually salted unless there is heavy snow and ice. This will help preserve the concrete.
• Barbara Wilson thanked all the departments and wished all a Happy New Year.
