Village of North Riverside Board of Trustees met January 15.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
Mayor Hermanek called the meeting to order with a Pledge of Allegiance and a Roll Call. In attendance were Trustee Bianco, Trustee Czajka, Trustee Demopoulos, Trustee Flores, Trustee Mengoni and Trustee Sarro.
Others in attendance were Administrator Belmonte, Finance Director Scarpiniti, Attorney Hayes, Police Chief Garcia, Recreation Director Mrozik, Public Works Director Kutt and Fire Chief Gaertner.
Approval Of Agenda:
Trustee Bianco moved seconded by Trustee Mengoni to approve the agenda for this meeting as presented. Roll Call Vote:
Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro

Cash Receipt Report
Trustee Mengoni moved and Trustee Bianco seconded to accept the Cash Receipt Report as presented for the month of November, 2017 in the amount$1,688,777.30. Roll Call Vote:
Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro
Nays: None. Motion carried
Trustee Mengoni moved and Trustee Bianco seconded to accept the Cash receipt Report as presented for the month of December, 2017 in the amount of $1,713,729.02. Roll Call Vote:

Trustee Czajka moved, seconded by Trustee Mengoni to approve the January 2, 2018 Village Board Meeting Minutes as presented. Roll Call Vote:

Trustee Czajka- (Judiciary, Ordinances, Recreation)
Trustee Czajka thanked Director Mrozik for hosting the WSSRA presentation which was very informative to residents.
The following is a memo that Trustee Czajka read in regards to an ordinance that will be discussed later this meeting:
Public Act 100-0554 amended the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act, including Section 70- 5, which pertains to government entities. The act mandates all governmental units adopt, within 60-days after the effective date of November 16, 2017, which is January 15, 2018, an ordinance establishing a policy prohibiting sexual harassment. Attorney Hayes will cover the passage of this ordinance tonight under Ordinances & Resolutions.

Trustee Mengoni rescheduled the Finance Committee Meeting for January 22nd at 6pm for a presentation from the Auditors and Actuaries. A Finance Committee is also scheduled for January 29th at 6pm.
Trustee Sarro- (Public Buildings, Grounds, lights, Transportation, Plan Commission)-No report
Mayoral Report:
Mayor Hermanek informed residents about a domestic violence incident that resulted in a fatality at the North Riverside Park Mall on January 13th. He thanked the Police Department for their efforts in bringing the suspect into custody.

Approval Of Bills
Trustee Mengoni moved, seconded by Trustee Flores to approve the list of bills submitted for this meeting totaling $547,695.87 and to have them paid out of proper funds when such funds become available. Roll Call Vote:

Nays: None. Motion Carried
Ordinances And Resolutions:
Trustee Czajka moved and Trustee Demopoulos seconded to approve an Ordinance Adopting a Policy Prohibiting Sexual Harassment For the Village of North Riverside (18-O-01) and to waive the reading. Roll Call Vote:
Ayes: Trustees Bianco, Czajka, Demopoulos, Flores, Mengoni, Sarro
