Village of Schiller Park President and Board of Trustees met May 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

I. Call to Order:

In the absence of Mayor Barbara Piltaver, Village Clerk Claudia Irsuto called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

II. Pledge of Allegiance:

III. Roll Call:

Upon a call of the roll by the Village Clerk, the following Elected Officials were:

Present: Trustees Moses Diaz, Russ Klug, Larry Fritz, Rick Desecki, Robert Lima, Catherine Gorzynski and Village Clerk Claudia Irsuto

Absent: Mayor Barbara Piltaver

Village Clerk Irsuto declared a quorum present.

Also present: Village Manager Brad Townsend, Frank Abel as Corporation Counsel, Brian Bursiek as Assistant Village Manager, Chief Peter Chiodo, Chief Tom Fragakis, John Bealer, Joe Blum, Rob Romo Finance Director, Tim Ritter Interim Public Works Director and Engineer Patrick Glenn.

Village Clerk. Irsuto requested a Motion to appoint "Longest Standing Trustee Fritz to preside overtonight's meeting.

Motion was made by Trustee Gorzynski, seconded by Trustee Lima, to appoint Trustee Fritz to preside over tonights meeting.

Consensus vote all yes.

IV. Approval of Minutes:

Trustee Klug moved, seconded by Trustee Diaz that the Minutes of the Regular Board Meeting of April 20, 2017 be approved.

Upon roll call the following voted:

Aye: Trustees Diaz, Klug, Desecki, Lima, Gorzynski and Fritz

Nay: None

Trustee Fritz declared the motion carried.

V. Bills:

Trustee Lima presented the Bills List for Payment in the amount of $491,049.73 which includes the following bill in amounts over $5,000.00 each. Being Visu-Sewer Verification, CIS Data 911 Center, M-K Signs Payment, Thomas Pump Pool Repair, Cummins Fire Engine Repair, D & P Construction water break soil removal and VCG Uniforms. Trustee Klug seconded the Motion.

Upon roll call the following voted:

Aye: Trustees Diaz, Klug, Desecki, Lima, Gorzynski and Fritz

Nay: None

Trustee Fritz declared the motion carried.

VI. Persons Wishing to be Heard:

No one to be heard

VII. Consent Agenda for Consideration and Action:

The President and the Board of Trustees unanimously consented to take a single Roll Call Vote on several items grouped together for voting purposes under the designation “Omnibus Vote".

1. Letter of Resignation of Nick Caiafa from the Schiller Park Board of Fire & Police Commissioners.

2. Letter of Resignation of Joan Golembiewski from the Zoning, Planning and Appeals Commission.

Upon a call for the Omnibus Vote, the following voted:

Aye: Trustees Diaz, Klug, Desecki, Lima, Gorzynski and Fritz

Nay: None

The Clerk declared the motion carried.

VIII. Action Items:

1. A Resolution Setting Forth the Schedule of Regular Meetings of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Schiller Park for Fiscal Year 2017-2018.

Trustee Desecki moved seconded by Trustee Gorzynski to adopt Resolution No. 10-17 being “A Resolution Setting Forth the Schedule of Regular Meetings of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Schiller Park for Fiscal Year 2017-2018.'

Upon roll call the following voted:

Aye: Trustees Diaz, Klug, Desecki, Lima, Gorzynski and Fritz

Nay: None

Trustee Fritz declared the motion carried.

2. An Ordinance to Repeal Ordinance No. 17-3086, dated January 5, 2017, Pertaining to the Real Estate Purchased by the St. Thomas Orthodox Church of India - Location described as the South Lot of Parcel 4 within the Eden Cemetery.

Trustee Desecki moved, seconded by Trustee Klug to adopt Ordinance No. 17-3099, dated January 5, 2017, being “An Ordinance to Repeal Ordinance No. 17-3086, dated January 5, 2017, Pertaining to the Real Estate Purchased by the St. Thomas Orthodox Church of India - Location described as the South Lot of Parcel 4 within the Eden Cemetery."

Upon roll call the following voted:

Aye: Trustees Diaz, Klug. Desecki, Lima, Gorzynski and Fritz

Nay: None

Trustee Fritz declared the motion carried.

IX. Adjournment Sine Die:

Trustee Klug moved, seconded by Trustee Diaz to Adjourn Sine Die.

Upon roll call by the Village Clerk, the following Elected Officials voted:

Aye: Trustees Diaz, Klug, Desecki, Lima, Gorzynski and Fritz

Nay: None

Trustee Fritz declared the motion carried.

X. Inauguration:

At this point Invocation by Deacon Michael Iosso of Visitation Catholic Church.

Trustee Gorzynski introduced the Honorable Ann O'Donnell, Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Judge O'Donnell administered the Oath of Office to Village Present Nick Caiafa, Village Clerk Rosa Jos, Village Trustees Moses Diaz, Thomas Deegan and Joan Golembiewski. Also Library Trustees Earl Gilpin, Diane Morioka and Daniel Sliwicki. Following the inauguration, each of the newly Elected Village Officials took their seats.

XI. Call to Return to Order:

Mayor Caiafa called the Board Meeting at 7:12 p.m.

XII. Roll Call:

Upon a roll call by the Village Clerk Jos, the following persons were:

Present: Mayor Nick Caiafa

Trustees Moses Diaz, Russell Klug, Joan Golembiewski, Thomas Deegan, Robert Lima and Catherine Gorzynski

Absent: None

Mayor Caiafa declared a quorum present.

Also present:

Brad Townsend, Village Manager, Comptroller

P. Joseph Montana of Montana-Welch as Corporation Counsel

President Caiafa then appointed the following:

Corporation Counsel (1 year term): P. Joseph Montana of Montana Welch

It was moved by Trustee Deegan, seconded by Trustee Klug that the President and Board of Trustees advise and consent to this appointment:

Aye: Trustees Diaz, Klug, Golembiewski, Deegan, Lima and Gorzynski

Absent: None

Nay: None

Mayor Caiafa declared that the Motion carried.

Mayor Caiafa then appointed the following:

Village Engineer (1 year term): Hancock Engineering:

It was moved by Trustee Gorzynski, seconded by Trustee Diaz that the President and Board of Trustees advise and consent to this appointment:

Mayor Caiafa declared that the Motion carried.

Mayor Caiafathen appointed the following:

Administrative Assistant to the Village President and Office Manager (1 year term): Marjorie Manchen

It was moved by Trustee Lima, seconded by Trustee Golembiewski that the President and Board of Trustees advise and consent to this appointment:

Aye: Trustees Diaz, Klug, Golembiewski, Deegan, Lima and Gorzynski

Absent: None

Mayor Caiafa declared that the Motion carried.

Mayor Caiafathen appointed the following:

Treasurer (1 year term): Marjorie Manchen

It was moved by Trustee Lima, seconded by Trustee Deegan that the President and Board of Trustees advise and consent to this appointment:

Mayor Caiafa declared that the Motion carried.

Mayor Caiafa then appointed the following:

Commissioner, Board of Fire and Police Commissioners (3 year unexpired term 2016 - 2019): Bob Bauer

It was moved by Trustee Diaz, seconded by Trustee Gorzynski that the President and Board of Trustees advise and consent to this appointment:

Upon roll call the following voted:

Mayor Caiafa declared that the Motion carried.

XV. Adjournment:

With no further business to conduct, it was moved by Trustee Lima, seconded by Trustee Gorzynski, that the Regular Board Meeting be adjourned.

Absent: None

Nay: None

Mayor Caiafa declared that the Motion carried and this Regular Board Meeting was adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
