Schiller Park Recreation Board met March 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Meeting called to order 6:01 p.m. by Chairperson Inendino

Roll Call:

Fanselow, Inendino and Russ are present.

Minutes of Regular Meeting January 17, 2017:

Fanselow moved 2nd Russ to accept the minutes as presented.

Correspondence:

None

Finance:

Russ moved 2nd Fanselow to accept January 2017-2 bills for payment as presented

Fanselow moved 2nd Russ to accept February 2017 bills for payment as presented

Russ moved 2nd Fanselow to accept February 2017-2 bills for payment as presented

Fanselow moved 2nd Russ to accept March 2017 bills for payment as presented

Public Comment:

None

Old Business:

Mr. Bealer updated the Board Members on the Kennedy Park ballfield renaming and Board Member Cathy Russ suggested placing a flag on plaque. The Board Members discussed details of ceremony. The date is Saturday, May 20 immediately following the Wall of Honor ceremony. Mr. Bealer and Board Members discussed accomplishments of the past year and goals for the next fiscal year. Mr. Bealer reported that the revenue collected by the Recreation Department has increased from $260,603 in 2007 to $774,916 in 2017. Mr. Bealer and the Board Members discussed current capital projects and Mr. Bealer informed the Board Members that our flooring had been installed in the men’s locker room also a new piece of fitness equipment (NuStep Cross Trainer) had been delivered. The Board Members planned to look at both items immediately following the Board meeting. Mr. Bealer stated that the contractor is scheduled to rebuild the lift station at the pool.

New Business:

Mr. Bealer spoke to the Board Members regarding the Recreation Center sign and reported to the Board that he has developed an RFP and solicited bids to install a digital sign for both the Recreation Center and the Library. Mr. Bealer will be attending the next Library Board meeting to discuss bids. Ms. Biondo reported that supplies had been ordered for the Easter Egg Hunt which will be held Saturday, April 15 and donations are still being accepted.

Park Report:

Mr. Lemar spoke to the Board Members regarding his responsibilities at all facilities and parks. Mr. Lemar prepared a park report for the Board Members that detailed some of his monthly responsibilities. Mr. Lemar reported that 3 LED wall packs had been installed at the Schiller Park Activity Center along with a new flagpole light fixture at the Community Center. They began spring clean-up and day to day facility maintenance.

Recreation Report:

Ms. Biondo reported to the Board Members the following information: league updates, programs and special events. Ms. Biondo reported that the volleyball and basketball leagues are going well! Packets have been sent out for softball. She stated that a new Archery class is going well.

Mrs. Panzica submitted a report regarding youth programs. Preschool is planning a spring field trip and graduation is on Wednesday, May 10. She also reported that the Kids Klub enrollment has increased to 130 children.

Director’s Report:

Mr. Bealer reported that the Wall of Honor ceremony will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 20. He also reported that he had recently attended a NEDSRA meeting.

There being no further business Fanselow moved 2nd Russ to adjourn the meeting at 7:42 p.m.
