River Forest Public Schools Committee of the Whole met April 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Members Present: Mr. Ralph Martire, Mr. Richard Moore, Mrs. Barbara Hickey, Ms. Stacey Williams, Mrs. Anne Gottlieb

Administrators Present: Dr. Alison Hawley, Director of Curriculum and Instruction

Ms. Diane Wood, Willard School Principal Mr. Kevin Martin, Director of Technology Mrs. Karen Boozell, Director of Special Education Mrs. Tina Steketee, Roosevelt School Assistant Principal

Community Present: Katie Avalos, Lincoln PTO Liaison Kim Meyer, Roosevelt PTO Liaison Howard Wax, Roosevelt PTO Liaison Recording Secretary: Mr. Anthony Cozzi, Director of Finance and Facilities

Mr. Martire called the Committee of the Whole Meeting to order at approximately 7:03 p.m.

Mr. Martire welcomed visitors and invited comments from the audience. A copy of the Speakers’ Roster as well as the Attendance Roster is included in the official minutes.

It was moved by Mrs. Hickey and seconded by Ms. Williams that the Board of Education approve the agenda as presented.

On call of the roll, the vote was as follows: Ayes: Mrs. Gottlieb, Mr. Martire, Ms. Williams, Mr. Moore, Mrs. Hickey

Nays: none

The motion carried.

Superintendent's Report Dr. Condon presented the updated Tri-Board Consortium Agreement - E-rate and Related Services, which incorporated D97’s modifications.

It was moved by Ms. Williams and seconded by Mrs. Gottlieb that Board of Education approve the updated Tri-Board Consortium Agreement as presented. On call of the roll, the vote was as follows: Ayes: Mrs. Hickey, Ms. Williams, Mrs. Gottlieb, Mr. Martire, Mr. Moore

Nays: none

The motion carried.

Education Committee Mr. Moore introduced Dr. Condon and Dr. Hawley to give a presentation on the Implications of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Enhancing Engagement and Equity, on District 90. A lengthy Board discussion ensued,

Dr. Condon reported on District 90’s compliance toward Student Data Privacy. He thanked Mr. Martin for his leadership and his team's efforts in protecting District 90 students and helping District 90 parents to easily understand a complex issue. Dr. Condon outlined the District’s current Status on policies and procedures. Mr. Martin spoke in detail about the procedures that staff have to complete to deploy an electronic application, Dr. Condon spoke about the work that remains to be done in this area.

Personnel It was moved by Mrs. Hickey and seconded by Ms. Williams that the Board of Education approve the Personnel Report as presented.

On roll call, the vote was as follows: Ayes; Mr. Latham, Mrs. Gottlieb, Mr. Martire, Ms. Williams, Mr. Moore, Mrs. Hickey Nays: none

The motion carried.

Adjournment There being no further business to discuss, the Committee of the Whole Meeting adjourned at approximately 8:08 p.m.
