Forest Park Village Council discusses alley-construction project

Meeting 09

At a recent meeting, the Forest Park Village Council discussed the alley-construction project.

The village council meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month in the Council Chambers on the lower level of Village Hall.

Below are the minutes from this meeting, as provided by the council.

THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF FOREST PARK, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS HELD ON MONDAY EVENING AUGUST 8, 2016

Mayor Calderone led all assembled in the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:04 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Commissioners Byrnes, Mannix, Novak, Entler and Mayor Calderone answered the Roll Call.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS

It was moved by Commissioner Mannix and seconded by Commissioner Novak that the minutes from the July 25, 2016, Regular Meeting of the Village Council be approved without reading as each member has received a copy thereof and found same to be correct.

ROLL CALL: AYES: Commissioners Byrnes, Mannix, Novak and Mayor Calderone NAYS: None ABSTAIN : Commissioner Entler The motion carried.

It was moved by Commissioner Byrnes and seconded by Commissioner Novak that the minutes from the July 25, 2016, Appropriation Public Hearing be approved without reading as each member has received a copy thereof and found same to be correct.

ROLL CALL: AYES: Commissioners Byrnes, Novak and Mayor Calderone NAYS: None ABSTAIN: Commissioners Mannix and Entler The motion carried.

COMMUNICATIONS:

DEPARTMENT REPORTS:

The Finance Department submitted its June, 2016 report.

APPROVAL OF BILLS:

It was moved by Commissioner Mannix and seconded by Commissioner Byrnes that the Resolution for the payment of bills be adopted. The Commissioner of Accounts and Finance has reviewed the bills as applicable to each department and found the aggregate amounts to be correct and recommends payment when funds are available. The bills totaled $335,542.05.

ROLL CALL: AYES: Commissioners Byrnes, Mannix, Novak, Entler and Mayor Calderone NAYS: None ABSENT: None The motion carried unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS:

Mayor Calderone administered the Official Oath of Office to Deputy Fire Chief, Phillip Chiappetta.

Mayor Calderone administered the Official Oath of Office to Fire Lieutenant, Timothy Conrad.

It was moved by Commissioner Mannix and seconded by Commissioner Entler that the Resolution approving a Memorandum of Understanding with the Cook County Sherriff’s Office for a Prescription Drug Tack Back Program be adopted.

ROLL CALL: AYES: Commissioners Byrnes, Mannix, Novak, Entler and Mayor Calderone NAYS: None ABSENT: None The motion carried unanimously.

It was moved by Commissioner Mannix and seconded by Commissioner Entler that the Ordinance authorizing the disposal of surplus property (chipper) owned by the Village of Forest Park be adopted.

R-44-16 RESOLUTION APPROVING BILLS IN THE AMOUNT OF $335,542.05 APPROVED

DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF, PHILLIP CHIAPPETTA SWORN IN

FIRE LIEUTENANT, TIMOTHY CONRAD SWORN IN

R-45-16 RESOLUTION APPROVING MOU WITH COOK COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE APPROVED

O-14-16 ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING DISPOSAL OF SURPLUS CHIPPER APPROVED

ROLL CALL: AYES: Commissioners Byrnes, Mannix, Novak, Entler and Mayor Calderone NAYS: None ABSENT: None The motion carried unanimously.

It was moved by Commissioner Mannix and seconded by Commissioner Entler to approve and authorize the Mayor’s signature on an agreement with Levy Restaurants, associated with Senior Citizen functions organized by the Community Center.

COMMUNITY CENTER AGREEMENT RATIFIED

ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT:

None

COMMISSIONER’S REPORTS:

Commissioner Byrnes reported that he attended the Madison Street “Dog Days” over the weekend and stated that they had a good attendance and that 6 dogs were adopted as a result of the event.

Commissioner Mannix reported that the Forest Park Rotary Club is holding its first annual Dodgeball Tournament, beginning at 11:00 a.m. this Saturday, August 13th, at the Park District soccer field. The registration deadline has been extended for teams wishing to compete.

Commissioner Novak reported that the alley construction in the village has started and thanked staff for the informative communications with the affected residents.

Commissioner Entler expressed her gratitude to the Village Council and staff for all their support when her Mom passed away.

Mayor Calderone reported that this last Saturday he and Commissioner Byrnes attended the ceremony at Woodlawn Cemetery commemorating International Clown Week throughout the country. The event was held at the “Showmen’s Rest” section of Woodlawn. In addition Mayor Calderone proclaimed August 1 through 8 as International Clown Week in the Village of Forest Park.

Further Mayor Calderone announced that Congressman Danny Davis is holding a Town Hall Meeting at the Park District of Forest Park on Wednesday, August 17th at 7:00 p.m. This is an opportunity for residents to meet Congressman Davis and share concerns on a local or national level. Topics will include Affordable Care Act, Jobs and the Economy, Education, Flooding, Child Welfare, Foreign Affairs, and more. All are invited

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to be addressed, Commissioner Mannix moved and Commissioner Byrnes seconded to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried unanimously.

Mayor Calderone declared the meeting adjourned at 7:34 P.M.
