Forest Preserve District Board's Finance Subcommittee on Litigation to settle claim

At a recent meeting, the Cook County Forest Preserve District Board of Commissioners' Finance Subcommittee on Litigation approved a settlement of an insurance claim against the district.

ATTENDANCE

Present: Chairman Silvestri, Commissioners Boykin, Gainer, and Suffredin (4)

Absent: Vice Chair Fritchey, Schneider, and Tobolski (3)

Also Present: Commissioners Arroyo, Goslin, and Moore; Dennis White, Chief Legal Counsel, Forest

Preserve District of Cook County

PUBLIC TESTIMONY Chairman Silvestri asked the Secretary to the Board to call upon the registered public speakers, in accordance with Cook County Code.

There were no public speakers

16-0325 COMMITTEE MINUTES Approval of the minutes from the meeting of 6/7/2016

A motion was made by Commissioner Gainer, seconded by Commissioner Suffredin, that this Committee Minutes be approved. The motion carried by the following vote:

Aye: Chairman Silvestri, Commissioners Boykin, Gainer, and Suffredin (4)

Absent: Vice Chair Fritchey, Schneider, and Tobolski (3)

CASE SETTLEMENT

Liberty Mutual Insurance a/s/o Kenya Perkins v. Forest Preserve District of Cook County

A motion was made by Commissioner Suffredin, seconded by Commissioner Gainer, that this Case Settlement be recommended for approval. The motion carried by the following vote:

Aye: Chairman Silvestri, Commissioners Boykin, Gainer, and Suffredin (4)

Absent: Vice Chair Fritchey, Schneider, and Tobolski (3)

Invoices Submitted for Approval by the Legal Department of the Forest Preserve District of Cook County

1. Invoices submitted for legal services June 1, 2016 through June 30, 2016 by Brothers & Thompson,

PC for various labor related matters.

2. Invoices submitted for legal services, May 1, 2016 through May 31, 2016 by Holland & Knight for

the acquisition of a promissory note and litigation.

3. Invoices submitted for legal services, May 1, 2016 through May 31, 2016 by Jackson Lewis PC for

labor related matters.

4. Invoices submitted for legal services April 1, 2016 through April 30, 2016 by Neal & Leroy for

various real estate matters.

A motion was made by Commissioner Boykin, seconded by Commissioner Suffredin, that these Invoices be recommended for approval. The motion carried by the following vote:

Aye: Chairman Silvestri, Commissioners Boykin, Gainer, and Suffredin (4)

Absent: Vice Chair Fritchey, Schneider, and Tobolski (3)

ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Commissioner Gainer, seconded by Commissioner Suffredin, that this meeting be adjourned. The motion carried by the following vote:

Aye: Chairman Silvestri, Commissioners Boykin, Gainer, and Suffredin (4)

Absent: Vice Chair Fritchey, Schneider, and Tobolski (3)
