The Cook County Board of Commissioners offered its condolences to the family of local resident Albert P. Dybicz, who passed away in December, during a recent meeting.

Dybicz, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps., was remembered as a kind and compassionate man who was gentle in spirit and virtuous of character. The board recognized that Dybicz had been dearly loved by his family and admired by friends and neighbors.

The board also recognized the contributions of Mary Jo Horace, former deputy chief information officer and director of Geographic Information Services for the county's Bureau of Technology, who retired in December after 29 years with the bureau.

The Illinois Geographic Information Systems Association awarded her the Dahlberg Distinguished Achievement Award in September 2015.
