Stars Fall in Triple Overtime

The Dominican University women’s basketball team hosted Division Street rival Concordia University of Chicago, in the final game of the season. 

Results:
CUC: 91
Dominican: 81

How it Happened:
-Dominican came out of the gates shooting 40% from the floor and winning the first quarter 16-13. 
-DU shot 0-5 from behind the arc resulting in 27% shooting from the field and losing the second quarter 18-13.
-The Stars went into halftime facing a 31-29 deficit.  
-In the third quarter, DU started slow allowing CUC to go on a 10-0 run. The Stars lost the third quarter 21-13. 
-Dominican would go on their own run to start the fourth, and would win the fourth quarter 19-9. Behind the 57% shooting from the field. 
-The first overtime was a close battle between the schools. DU shot 57% from the field. 
-In the second overtime, the Stars continued to shoot well shooting 50% from the floor and scoring 7 points. 
-In the final overtime, the wheels fell off for Dominican only scoring 4 total points off of 28% shooting. 
-DU had five players in double figures. 

Shining Stars:
-Freshman Kameron Goodman led the Stars with 22 points and 14 rebounds. 
-Freshman Mariangley Velez was a big part of the offense with 13 points. 
-Senior Dasia Norris had a big game off the bench scoring 12 points and collecting 8 rebounds. 
-Junior Mackenzie Coleman cashed in with a double-double scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. 
-Junior Kamryn Woods shot 2 for 5 from behind the arc resulting in 10 points.

Steals: Goodman (3)
Blocks: Four players (1)

What’s Next:
Dominican University women’s basketball team ended the 2022-2023 season 3-22 overall and 2-16 in conference.
