Riverside Township food pantry increases visit frequency for residents

The Riverside Township Food Pantry has increased the number of visits allowed for residents from once a month to twice a month, with at least two weeks between each visit, according to a Nov. 8 announcement. Residents are encouraged to call 708-442-4400 to confirm their next eligible date.

This change is intended to provide greater support for local families who rely on the pantry’s services. The food pantry continues to accept donations of non-perishable foods, toiletry items, sauces, and seasonings. Cash donations are also welcomed, and checks can be made out to “Riverside Township Food Pantry.” Donors are reminded to check expiration dates before contributing items.

The pantry is located at Riverside Township, 27 Riverside Road, where township residents can pick up food. Recommended donation guidelines include protein sources such as canned meats or beans, canned vegetables and fruits, starches like pasta or rice, breakfast items, appropriate sauces or seasonings, and hearty soups that may substitute for other proteins. Toiletry items and treats are also accepted when donated.

Donations can be dropped off by anyone at several locations in Riverside: Riverside Township and Village Hall (27 Riverside Rd.), Riverside Public Library (1 Burling Rd.), Riverside Public Works Department (3860 Columbus Blvd.), Riverside Parks and Recreation facility (43 E. Quincy St.), and Riverside Foods (48 E. Burlington St.).
