On September 11, residents of River Forest reported that two individuals were taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents earlier in the day. According to a statement from the Village, local authorities were not notified by ICE about the enforcement action and did not participate or assist in any way.

The Village stated it does not have information regarding the charges against the individuals. The incident appears to be specific to those taken into custody, and there has been no notification of additional planned immigration enforcement activity in River Forest.

Officials emphasized that the Police Department will continue to follow both the Illinois TRUST Act and the Illinois VOICES Act. Residents are encouraged to understand their rights and consult resources available on the Illinois Attorney General’s website (https://illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/rights-resources/immigrant-rights).
