On September 24, 12 Asian residents of Cook County had their COVID-19 test return positive”, according to numbers being reported to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Since the start of the pandemic, 1,957 Asian residents have tested positive for COVID-19, constituting three percent of the positive cases in Cook County.

Illinois gathers all of their COVID-19 data from across the state electronically. The reported cases and deaths will fluctuate as additional info is gathered. Chicago was home to one of the first known cases of COVID-19 in the US, as well as it’s transmission.
