Metra collaborates with railroad and municipal partners for the 2025 construction season, embarking on various projects, including enhancements to the Berwyn/Riverside pedestrian crossing on Harlem Avenue. The BNSF Line will see road crossings replaced at Loomis Street in Chicago and Harlem Avenue at the Berwyn-Riverside border. Pedestrian crossings are to be added in Berwyn at various avenues including Ridgeland, East, Oak Park, Grove, Home, and Harlem.
The construction program also aims to replace aging bridges on the UP North Line, upgrade track, electrical, and signal systems on the Metra Electric, and execute tie replacement projects on three lines. These improvements will reinforce safe and reliable service across Metra’s 11 lines. Construction is underway and expected to continue through the fall, as weather permits.
