F.H. Paschen, along with Evergreen Real Estate Group and Leyden Township officials, marked a significant milestone in the construction of the Leyden Senior Apartments in Franklin Park, Illinois. The ceremony celebrated the placement of the final structural plank, completing the building’s framework.
The four-story, 85,000-square-foot development began construction in April 2025 and is expected to open in 2026. It will provide 80 affordable housing units for seniors in Cook County. The facility will include amenities such as a community room, fitness center, laundry facilities on each floor, and an outdoor patio.
Tom Cross from F.H. Paschen commented on the progress: “Placing the final roof plank is a major accomplishment for our team and trade partners.” He emphasized their commitment to delivering quality housing for future residents.
The project is funded through a public-private partnership involving multiple entities like the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), Bank of America, Hudson Housing, Leyden Township, and Cook County Department of Planning and Development. Mesirow Financial played a crucial role in underwriting Leyden Township’s General Obligation bond offering.
Leyden Township Supervisor Rocco Biscaglio highlighted the project’s significance: “This building stands as a promise to care for those who built this community before us.” He added that it represents a commitment to providing seniors with safe and welcoming homes.
As general contractor, F.H. Paschen will now focus on enclosing the building and completing interior work. The project was designed by Weese Langley Klein Architects and involves collaboration between several organizations including developer Evergreen Real Estate Group and property manager Evergreen Real Estate Services.
F.H. Paschen has been involved in similar projects before. Earlier this year, they completed the Bellwood Gateway project with residential units and commercial space. They also worked on Bellwood Senior Apartments which opened in late 2023.
