Jesús “Chuy” García, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Illinois’ 4th district, has been vocal on social media regarding recent political developments. He took to Twitter to express his views on several policy issues under the administration of former President Donald Trump.

On March 6, 2025, Congressman García supported Representative Al Green’s stance against proposed cuts by former President Trump. He tweeted: “.@RepAlGreen is right! Trump has no mandate to cut critical programs Americans rely on.”

Later that day, he addressed plans involving former President Trump and Elon Musk. In his tweet from March 6, 2025, García criticized their efforts: “Trump and Musk are advancing plans to close field and hearing offices and cut SSA staff to ensure the wealthiest 1% get more tax breaks. Democrats are fighting to stop the closure of field offices, protect your private data, and demand answers from the administration.”

The following day, on March 7, 2025, García expressed concerns about potential changes in education policy under Trump’s administration. He warned about the impact of dismantling the Department of Education: “Dismantling the Dept. of Ed means larger classes, less support, and fewer opportunities for our students. Pell Grants and federal loans would be at risk, making college inaccessible to many. But Trump wants to turn these taxpayer funds into more tax cuts for his billionaire…”
