ComEd announced on April 2 that it will replace a transformer at 8853 Ogden Avenue as part of a project aimed at improving the safety and reliability of the power grid in its service area. The work is scheduled to take place from April 8 through April 10, resulting in temporary changes to traffic flow and parking on Prairie Avenue.

The project will require partial closure of Prairie Avenue during removal of the old transformer and delivery of the new one. Southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane, while both northbound lanes immediately south of Ogden Avenue will be closed on Friday, April 10 from 5 a.m. until 3 p.m. Northbound vehicles will be detoured via Shields Avenue, Maple Avenue, Ogden Avenue, and back onto Prairie Avenue.

Parking restrictions are also planned for sections of Prairie Avenue and the alley south of Ogden between Prairie and Forest Avenues from Wednesday, April 8 through Friday, April 10 each day between 5 a.m. and 3 p.m. Access to residences or businesses along these routes will remain available throughout the construction period.

Residents with questions about the project are encouraged to contact Cierra Johnson (agent for ComEd) at 612-347-7177 or call ComEd’s emergency line at 800-334-7661 outside normal business hours.
