City of Northlake City Council met Dec. 15

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

At a 6:45pm public hearing, Alderman Feldmann made a motion to approve the 2026 Budget; seconded by Alderman Patti. The Mayor noted there was no real estate tax increase for the 8th year in a row; the city has a robust infrastructure program; all bonds will be paid off in 2 years, leaving the city with zero debt. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor. The motion carried. 

The regular meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. 

Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve participation by aldermen via conference bridge; seconded by Alderman Johnson. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor. The motion carried. 

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the city council meeting held on December 1, 2025. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the city council meeting held on December 1, 2025; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor. 

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON DECEMBER 1, 2025 CARRIED 

Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the Warrants and Vouchers; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll. 

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, SOSA, JOHNSON, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI 

ABSENT: ALDERMAN URBINA 

NAYS: NONE 

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED 

Mayor Sherwin noted the next meeting is on January 12, 2026 and will be the only meeting that month; he attended the ribbon cutting for the new ramp coming off of 294 South; Winterfest was a success; and wished everyone a Merry Christmas. 

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Ordinance 0-26-2025; an Ordinance for the Levy and Assessment of 2025 Taxes Paid in the Year Beginning January 1, 2026 and Ending December 31, 2026 for the City of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ABSENT: ALDERMAN URBINA

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Ordinance 0-27-2025; An Ordinance Adopting the Annual Budget for Calendar Year 2026 for the City of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois; seconded by Alderman Sosa. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ABSENT: ALDERMAN URBINA 

NAYS: NONE 

MOTION TO APPROVE ORDINANCE 0-27-2025; AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE ANNUAL BUDGET FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2026 FOR THE CITY OF NORTHLAKE, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS CARRIED 

Alderman Straube made a motion to approve the purchase of a new 2026 Ford F250 Pickup Truck with 8′ Snowplow in the amount of $55,928.84; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll. 

ROLL CALL: ALDERMEN STRAUBE, FELDMANN, CONTRERAS, SOSA, JOHNSON, GROCHOWSKI AND PATTI 

ABSENT: ALDERMAN URBINA 

NAYS: NONE 

MOTION TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF A NEW 2026 FORD F250 PICKUP TRUCK WITH 8′ SNOWPLOW IN THE AMOUNT OF $55,928.84 CARRIED 

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Resolution R-23-2025; A Resolution Approving a Change in the Terms Agreement Between the City of Northlake and First American Bank; seconded by Alderman Contreras. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ABSENT: ALDERMAN URBINA 

NAYS: NONE 

MOTION TO APPROVE RESOLUTION R-23-2025; A RESOLUTION APPROVING A CHANGE IN THE TERMS AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF NORTHLAKE AND FIRST AMERICAN BANK 

A resident had a question regarding the number of police officers on duty for each shift. 

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
