Seniors at the Cicero Senior Center gathered on January 6, 2026, to celebrate Three Kings Day, a tradition that holds special meaning for many in the community. The event featured the sharing of Rosca de Reyes, a sweet bread symbolizing unity and faith. Seniors took turns cutting into the bread, hoping to find the figurine of Baby Jesus inside—a custom that many have enjoyed since childhood.
A Nativity scene was displayed inside the center, providing an opportunity for participants to take photos and reflect on the spiritual aspect of the holiday. For some attendees, it served as a reminder of their cultural roots and highlighted the importance of maintaining traditions within their community.
Senior Center Director Diana Dominick commented on the significance of the gathering: “Our Senior Center is more than just a place to come for activities — it is a home where traditions, friendships, and memories are kept alive. Celebrating Three Kings Day together reminds us how powerful it is to share culture, faith, and joy as one big family”.
Throughout the morning, seniors expressed appreciation for being able to celebrate with others they consider family. The event emphasized not only tradition but also connection and belonging among those present.
The Cicero Senior Center continues its role as a hub where culture and community intersect, ensuring that each celebration fosters inclusion and makes every senior feel welcome.
