The Village of Brookfield announced on April 27 that the 2026 Street Improvements Project is set to begin this week, starting with initial construction activities across several local streets.

The project aims to upgrade sections of 27th Street, 29th Street, Raymond Avenue, and Madison Avenue. The contractor will first conduct tree protection, root pruning, and saw-cutting for all affected streets in preparation for the broader work. Sewer improvements are scheduled to start next week on May 4 along 27th and 29th Streets. All construction is expected to be completed by mid-August.

Work will include replacing curbs and gutters, sidewalks, driveway aprons, repairing drainage structures and combined sewers where needed, pavement widening on certain avenues, laying new asphalt surfaces, restoring parkways disturbed during construction, and other related tasks. Residents should expect impacts on parking and access during various phases of the project. Some street closures may occur temporarily during sewer installation but will typically reopen after work hours. Notices will be distributed when driveway aprons are replaced or when parking restrictions are necessary due to concrete or paving operations.

Residents with underground sprinkler systems in parkways are asked to contact Public Works so their locations can be marked before construction begins. The Village said it cannot hold contractors responsible for damage if these systems have not been clearly identified by residents.
