Congratulations to Nino DaSilva, whose front garden at 9432 Henrietta Ave. was the Brookfield Beautification Commission’s choice for its Garden Recognition Program for the month of June.

Along with a Garden Recognition sign, which DaSilva can display in his front garden, he also received a $50 Enjoy Brookfield gift card, which can be used to purchase goods and services at businesses throughout the Village.

DaSilva’s front garden is colorful and inviting, featuring a variety of shrubs whose leaves offer a palette of color and texture. Conifers add a touch of evergreen year-round.

Planters overflow in the front with seasonal blooms, and roses offer a nice touch of color and fragrance. Finally, the front entrance to the garden is framed by planting beds featuring shrubs and a distinctive blend of black and gray Mexican stone.

DaSilva’s garden was selected from four nominations made by Brookfield homeowners. The Brookfield Beautification Commission will recognize more gardens in July and August. In September, they will recognize a Native Plant Garden.

The commission is accepting nominations through July 31 for this month’s Garden Recognition Program. To nominate your garden — the commission can only consider public-facing gardens — please fill out the Garden Recognition Program form, which you can find by clicking here.

You can find out more about the Brookfield Beautification’s Garden Recognition Program by visiting the Beautification Commission’s page on the Village website.
