Berkeley School District 87 Board Facilities Committee met Dec. 19

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Chairman Hightower called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm in the Boardroom of the Administration Office, 1200 N. Wolf Road, Berkeley, IL. Roll call was taken, and the following members were present- Chavez, Hightower, Jackson, Mason, Mora, O’Connell, and Sosa. Absent: None. Also present were Dr. Sullivan, Mrs. Zimmerman, Mrs. Vince and Mrs. Travis.

Jeremy Roling, Gilbane Project Manager showed drone footage of MacArthur/Sunnyside interior projects including the ribbon cutting ceremony. Jeremy reported they are working through inspections in the next couple of weeks. Also, working through the MacArthur/Sunnyside punch list.

Ricardo Anguiano, Gilbane Project Manager showed a drone footage for Riley/Northlake project. The Executive Summary and Change Orders for the project were reviewed.

CO #121-This change order incorporates PR-56 issued by Wold Architects for the Sunnyside & MacArthur project on 11/3/22. The modifications within this PR add GFCI protection on all of the cord reels in the science & stem labs per the requirement of the electrical inspector. Cord reels have a 25ft cord which allows them to reach with 6ft of the sinks.

CO # 122- This change order incorporates Part I of PR-57 issued by Wold Architects for the Sunnyside & MacArthur project on 11/15/22. Part 1 of this PR revises the specified finished flooring product for the MacArthur stage from ¼” hardboard to Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) for durability, ascetic, and cleanability reasons.

CO # 123 -This change order incorporates Part 2 of PR-57 issued by Wold Architects for the Sunnyside & MacArthur project issued on 11/15/22. Part 2 of PR-57 revises the material for the fascia panels at all exterior canopies from standard flat break metal to ACM panels to match the surrounding walls & soffits. The ACM panels provide more durability and wi11 hold their form & appearance through warm & cold cycles better than the break metal.

CO #124 -This change order is for additional porcelain tile added in corridors where the finish schedule & elevations we’re difficult to determine the full intent. This porcelain tile runs the bottom 3′ of most corridor & common walls to provide added protection & prevent constant need for painting touch up due to scuff marks & damage.

CO #125 -This change order incorporates RNL PR-36 issued by Wold Architects Riley Northlake project on 10/24/22 for the addition of framing and drywall at the serving area, relocation of electrical, modifications to the coiling doors, and addition of the fire extinguishers and cabinets at select locations.

CO # 126 -This change order is for additional steel required for brick installation, and for roof support. This change also includes the rework of an existing storm drain in conflict of a new soffit and electrical rework at the serving areas for kitchen equipment rough-in.

CO #127-NTE – This change order incorporates cladding the exposed foundation wall at the Northlake loading dock with thin brick adhered directly to the foundation wall. This also includes the grinding, cleaning, and select patching required for the thin brick installation.

Jesslyn Kelly, Wold Architect reviewed the bid opening held on December 6th for the Renovation Projects at Jefferson and Whittier. She was happy to report the bid came in under budget.
