Illinois gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey is calling for a repeal of a law requiring feminine hygiene products to be made available to boys.

“Woke policies are destroying our state and like the tampon dispenser at Lyons Township – let’s flush the law requiring tampons to be available to boys and girls,” Bailey said. “The image of a tampon dispenser found in a toilet in the boys bathroom at Lyons Township High School is a metaphor for where woke policies are taking our state. There is absolutely no need for a tampon dispenser to be placed in a boys bathroom. It is nothing more than an invitation for boys to do exactly what they did – place the dispenser in the toilet. It does not take a genius to predict that in the event this dispenser is replaced – the new dispenser will likely face a similar fate. The solution is to repeal the law requiring tampons to be made available to both boys and girls. As governor, I will push to restore common sense in our schools by pushing to repeal woke mandates on our schools such as the one requiring tampons to be made available to boys. There is no need for this legislation and like the dispenser at Lyons Township High School, let’s flush this nonsense law.”

The statement comes after a tampon machine was ripped off of a wall at Lyons Township High School and jammed into a toilet, the West Cook News reported.

The machine was placed after Democrats in the Illinois State Legislature enacted a law last year, which was signed by Democrat Gov. J.B. Pritzker, requiring that free tampons in male facilities be accessible to kids in grades four through 12.

Illinois Family Action, Illinois Right to Life, Illinois Federation for Right to Life and Lake County Right to Life have all endorsed Bailey.

A well-known Republican conservative, Bailey is pro-life and pro-gun rights, and he has stated that Illinois families are his first priority.

Bailey has stated that if elected, he will fight for parental rights, lower taxes and true fiscal reform.

Another law passed by Pritzker mandates that all public universities and community colleges in Illinois give free feminine hygiene supplies in their restrooms, according to West Cook News.
