Discussion Concerning the "Intelligentsia Cup" Bike Race Event Scheduled for Wednesday, July 24, 2024

Police Chief Michael Kuruvilla provides a summary of the 2023 Intelligentsia Cup Bike Race. Details included total number of staff used, required equipment, road closures, and the total cost the Village took on. If the Village were to have a full closure of the Prairie Avenue crossing, the total cost and staff required would be reduced. Village Engineer Derek Treichel answers questions from the Village Board. Chris Valadez from Cycle Brookfield provides a presentation highlighting the 2023 Intelligentsia Cup Bike Race. Comments and questions are made by President Garvey and Trustees Ketchmark, Hendricks, Kaluzny, Cote, and Gilhooley.

Discussion Regarding Proposed Streetscape Improvements on Grand Boulevard and Brookfield Avenue

Village Engineer Derek Treichel provides a summary of the resurfacing project running south on Grand Boulevard to Brookfield Avenue to Woodside Avenue to Parkview Avenue to Golf Road which is part of the Brookfield Avenue Collector Route. 80 percent of the total project is funded through the federal government. and there is Contingency Funding available for this project.

Funding for streetscape is only for the 3700 block of Grand Boulevard and Brookfield Avenue from Prairie Avenue to Arden Avenue. On the 3700 block of Grand Boulevard, streetscape work includes full sidewalk replacement, brick pavers, street lighting, tree/planter grates, and other amenities. On Brookfield Avenue, brick pavers on the southside of the street from Prairie Avenue to sculpture. Pedestrian level street lighting would run on the northside of the street from Prairie Avenue to Arden Avenue. Design options for street lighting, brick pavers, and tree/planter gates are discussed. Comments and questions are made by President Garvey and Trustees Gilhooley, Cote, Ketchmark, Hendricks, and Kaluzny. Comments are made by President Garvey.

Discussion About Amending Various Sections of the Village Code Pertaining to Advisory Commissions and Committees

Management Analyst Bob Uphues provides a recommendation of the proposed amended codes for fair housing complaints and designated appointees to the Fair Housing Committee.

Mitzi Norton comments on behalf of Kimberly Coughran from the Linda Sokol Francis Brookfield Library in support of the Intelligentsia Cup bike race event.
