Village of Schiller Park Fire & Police Commission met Sept. 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

I. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL:

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Rawski at 7:30PM

Upon call of the roll, the following were:

Present: Commissioner Irsuto and Chairman Rawski 

Absent: None

Others Present: Secretary Botti, Director Fragakis and Chief Cesaretti

II. PLEDGE OF ALLEG ANCE: All present.

III. REVIEW AND VOTE TO ADOPT THE MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING:

Motion by Commissioner Irsuto to adopt the minutes of the last meeting and second by Commissioner Lucy.

Upon call of the roll, the following voted:

Yes: Commissioner Irsuto, Commissioner Lucy and Chairman Rawski

Abstained: None

No: None

The Chainnan declared the motion carried

IV. REVIEW CORRESPONDENCE AND BILLS:

• Invoices­

• Xfinity re: Secretary's internet bill's

• Artistic Engraving re: Commission star's

• Medical exam from Concentra re: Steven Greske and Raymond Higgins

• Correspondence - Personnel

• Freedom of Information Act Request re: Star # 63

• Retirement letter re: Lieutenant Ed Ladonsky

• Retirement letter re: Detective Brian Norris

• C.O.P.S. and F.I.R.E. Personnel testing service re: Psychological exams for Steven Greske, Peter Malec and Dwight Davis

• Report from Conrad Polygraph re: Steven Greske

V. DISCUSS PROGRESS OF ALL PROBATIONARY EMPLOYEES IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS OF THEIR PROBATIONARY PERIOD. THIS DISCUSSION MAY BE IN EXECUTIVE SESSION:

Jeremy G. Chemikovich has successfully completed his probationary period and is being considered for appointment as a permanent rank: of Sergeant for the Police department.

Motion by Commissioner Lucy and second by Commissioner Irsuto to concur with the recommendation of Director Fragakis to conditionally appoint Jeremy G. Chemikovich to the permanent rank of Sergeant for the Police Department, as of September 18, 2021.

Upon a call of the roll, the following voted:

Yes: Commissioner Irstuo, Commissioner Lucy and Chairman Rawski

No: None

The Chairman declared the motion carried.

Blaine C. Schneider has successfully completed his probationary period and is being considered for appointment as a permanent rank of Lieutenant for the Fire department

Motion by Commissioner Lucy and second by Commissioner Irsuto to concur with the recommendation of Chief Cesaretti to conditionally appoint Blaine C. Schneider to the permanent rank of Lieutenant for the Fire Department, as of September 18, 2021.

Upon a call ofthe roll, the following voted:

Yes: Commissioner Irsuto, Commissioner Lucy and Chairman Ra\vski

No: None

The Chairman declared the motion carried.

VI. DISCUSS STATUS OF OPEN POSITIONS FOR BOTH FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS:

• Police Department: Has three (3) openings, withl approval

• Fire Department: Has three (3) openings. On hold

• Anthony J. Cannella went for Psychological exam today and I received a verbal for C.O.P.S Services, he is a recommend, waiting on full report.

VII. REVIEWING DATES THAT ARE SET FOR NEW POLICE TESTING (Original Appointment):

Police Testing Schedule

• Begin advertising on September 22, 2021 thru October 28, 2021

• Begin issuing Applications on September 22~ 2021

• Accept Applications until Thursday, October 28, 2021, with a cutoff time of 4 PM

• Orientation & written examinations where held on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the Schiller Park Community Center: (all candidates must wear masks per the CDC rules).

o Registration began at 8:30 AM by C.O.P.S.

o Orientation began at 9:00 AM and doors will be locked

o Written exam began at or around 10AM

• Agility test will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at the East Leyden High School Field House; (all candidates must wear masks per the CDC rules).

o Registration will begin at 8:30 AM by C.O.P.S;

o Agility test will begin at 9 AM and doors will be locked

• Oral examinations will begin the week of December 7, 2021 and estimated to be completed on December 13, 2021. (Note: need to hire Mrs. Klug for oral examinations) (Note 3 days for Orals set 12/7/21, 12/9/21 & 12/1 3/21)

• Final Eligibility list to be tentatively completed and posted by December 30, 2021

VIII. CONSIDERATION AND APPROVAL OF PROSPOSED AMENDMENT TO RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE FIRE & POLICE COMMISSION:

Motion by Commissioner Lucy to approve the proposed amendment to the rules and second by Commissioner Irsuto. Upon call ofthe roll, the following voted:

Yes: Commissioner Irsuto, Commissioner Lucy and Chairman Rawski

Abstained: None

No: None

The Chairman declared the motion carried

IX. DISCUSS AND VOTE 0 WHICH AGENCY WILL DO ASSESSMENTS FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT:

• Chief Cesaretti will talk to the Union

X. DISCUSS DATES FOR PROMOTIONAL FIRE TESTING, (Lieutenant):

• On hold

XI. OTHER BUSINESS

• None

XII. PUBLIC COMMENT:

• No Comment

XIII. NEXT REGULAR MEETING NOTICE:

• The next regular scheduled meeting on Tuesday~ October 9~ 2021 at 7:30 PM.

XIV. ADJOURNMENT:
