Jill Dunlap leaves no question about her first order of business if elected to the Community Consolidated School District 146 school board.

“The most pressing issue facing our district right now is the COVID-19 pandemic,” she told Patch.com. “If elected, I will work diligently to advocate for a safe, full-day, in-person model for our students.”

Running as part of the 146Forward slate, Dunlap said it’s an oath all members have taken in their push for a return to normalcy.

The 146Forward slate includes, Dunlap Julie Berry, Patty Chlada and Rick Lloyd.

“While we might have some differing opinions, we are united by our commitment to serve the students and stakeholders of District 146 with integrity and to work collaboratively to better the district,” Dunlap said.

Dunlap said she sees herself differing from the non-146Forward candidates in the way she and her running mates are committed to spending the time needed to be in tune with the community and well-versed on the issues of the day.

“I will listen thoughtfully and respectfully to others, but still express my opinion on important issues and vote with conviction,” she said. “I will also represent the entire community, not just a special interest group or personal opinion interests.”

A 45-year-old optometrist by trade, Dunlap resides in Tinley Park with her husband and four children, all of whom have graduated from or currently attend District 146 schools. She said voters can trust her because she stands for integrity and authenticity.

“I believe in transparency, open communication and constructive dialog,” she said. “I am consistent in what I say and do.”
