Minutes of the 1,535th The City Council City of Northlake met June 11.

Roll Call:

Present: Alderman Straube, Feldmann, Contreras, Padilla, Werba, Gonzalez, Grochowski And Patti

Absent: Carol Lampard, Finance Director

Others Present: Nancy Pauletto, City Clerk

Mark Sterk, Attorney Norm Nissen, Chief Of Police Mark Rail, Public Works

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the regular meeting held on May 21, 2018. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held May 21, 2018; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

Motion To Accept The Minutes Of The May 21, 2018 City Council Meeting Carried

Northlake Police Department Chief Norm Nissen presented a Community Service Award to Frank, Matt, and Josh – three young men who helped out as volunteers during the City of Northlake Shred Day.

Alderman Patti made a motion to pay the warrants and vouchers if and when the funds become available; seconded by Alderman Padilla. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Motion To Pay The Warrants And Vouchers Carried:

The Mayor noted a new housing report was issued recently showing great improvements in home values in Northlake. He also noted that according to the summer schedule, the next City Council meeting would be the 2nd Monday in July.

Alderman Patti made a Motion to Adopt the Motor Fuel Tax Documentation Review for 2017; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

Motion To Adopt The Motor Fuel Tax Documentation Review For 2017 Carried:

Alderman Padilla made a Motion to approve the contract for the sale of 119 S. Caryl, a vacant lot; seconded by Alderman Contreras. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Motion To Approve The Contract For The Sale Of 119 S. Caryl Carried:

Alderman Grochowski made a Motion to approve a sponsorship to Leyden Family Services; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

Motion To Approve A Sponsorship To Leyden Family Services Carried:

Alderman Patti made a Motion to approve a Triton College scholarship donation; seconded by Alderman Contreras. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

Motion To Approve A Triton College Scholarship Donation Carried:

Alderman Patti made a Motion to refer Grievance 18-4 to the Hearing Officer; seconded by Alderman Padilla. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

Alderman Patti made a Motion to approve Ordinance O-12-2018; An Ordinance Approving a Plat of Dedication for a Public Street; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Alderman Patti made a Motion to approve Ordinance O-13-2018; An Ordinance Vacating Certain Alleys in the city of Northlake, Illinois; seconded by Alderman Padilla. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Motion To Approve Ordinance O-13-2018; An Ordinance Vacating Certain Alleys In The City Of Northlake, Illinois Carried

Alderman Feldmann made a Motion to approve 2018/2019 Blue Cross Blue Shield/Met Life Insurance; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

Alderman Padilla made a Motion to approve Ordinance O-14-2018; An Ordinance Rezoning the Property Commonly Known as 70 West North Avenue, Northlake, IL 60164; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Motion To Approve Ordinance O-14-2018; An Ordinance Rezoning The Property Commonly Known As 70 West North Avenue, Northlake, Il 60164 Carried

Alderman Patti made a Motion to approve Resolution R-09-2018; A Resolution Approving an Amended Mutual Aid Agreement for the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Motion To Approve Resolution R-09-2018; A Resolution Approving An Amended Mutual Aid Agreement For The Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Carried:

A parent of one of the young men that received the Community Service Award thanked the City Council for their awareness of the special needs community and requested getting the word out for further volunteer opportunities.

A family called Alderman Feldmann requesting the City look into placing a stop sign at the intersection of Laporte and Bernice. They had a petition signed by several neighbors. The Mayor asked the Chief to have this intersection looked at further.

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
