EST SUBURBAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY: Meet WSCCI's newest employee: Susan Claesson!

Womanhandshake300

West Suburban Chamber Of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 21.

Susan Claesson is the Chamber's new Membership and Marketing Specialist and we couldn't be more excited to have her on board! With a ton of nonprofit organizational experience, years of sponsorship and customer relationship management and events coordination, Susan fits in perfectly with the WSCCI's mission and culture. We decided to ask her a few questions so members can get to know her a little better:

WSCCI: What drew you to the WSCCI position?

SC: The thought of giving back. I've worked for several organizations whose mission I really believed in and the Chamber is very similar. This will offer me the chance to give back in the communities I live and shop and now work! I love building relationships, meeting new people and I think the Chamber is doing great things that I can help add to.

WSCCI: What is something you are looking forward to accomplishing in this position?

SC: Well, my parents were always small business owners, so the fact that I will now get to interact and work with many business owners on a daily basis is really exciting. I understand the dynamics and what can be challenging in owning a business, having watched it firsthand. I want to help grow the membership so that more businesses can benefit from belonging to this Chamber, as it's regional and far-reaching.

WSCCI: Favorite business your parents owned?

SC: Dairy Queen!!

WSCCI: Now, getting personal. What's your favorite vacation spot?

SC: Michigan. I love my home state.

WSCCI: How about the best book you've read recently and why you liked it.

SC: Tourist Season by Carl Hiaasen. Carl Hiaasen does an incredible job of creating characters that you really should not like but you do. It is great storytelling. He also has a line of kids books that have been great to read and listen to on tape with my own children.

WSCCI: What is your all-time favorite quote?

SC: "Do the right thing, do the best you can and always show people you care" - Lou Holz
