City of Northlake Council met May 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The regular meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. Mayor Sherwin asked everyone to stand for the pledge of allegiance. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Roll Call:

Present: Alderman Straube, Feldmann,

Contreras, Padilla, Werba, Grochowski And Patti

Others Present: Fred Paul, Treasurer

Carol Lampard, Finance Director Nancy Pauletto, City Clerk Mark Sterk, Attorney Norm Nissen Chief Of Police Dale Roberts, Public Works Director

Swearing in ceremony for Edward Gonzalez, Jamie Contreras, Rich Grochowski, Paul Straube, Nancy Pauletto, Fred Paul and Jeff Sherwin.

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the regular meeting held on April 17, 2017. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held April 17, 2017; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

Alderman Patti made a motion to pay the warrants and vouchers if and when the funds become available; seconded by Alderman Padilla. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Nays: None

Motion To Pay The Warrants And Vouchers Carried

Mayor Sherwin reminded everyone about the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast on May 6th and the West Central Municipal Conference dinner on June 9th. He also said that our summer meeting schedule starts in June.

Alderman Feldmann made a motion to approve the engineer’s recommendation of Earthwerks Lane Improvement and Development Corporation bid of $3,813,870.00 for Addison Creek Wetland Restoration Improvements; seconded by Alderman Contreras. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Nays: None

Motion To Approve The Engineer’s Recommendation Of Earthwerks Land Improvement And Development Corporation Bid Of $3,813,870.00 For Addison Creek Wetland Restoration Improvements Carried

Alderman Contreras made a motion to refer to the City of Northlake Zoning Board of Appeals and Plan Commission. In order to build an apartment building for senior citizen at 52-58 East North Avenue, Turnstone Development Corporation is requesting the following amendment: for zoning change from B-1 Retail Business District to R-3(A) Special Residence District, seconded by Alderman Padilla. The Zoning Hearing will May 23rd. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Motion To Refer To The City Of Northlake Zoning Board Of Appeals And Plan Commission. In Order To Build An Apartment Building For Senior Citizens At 52-58 East North Avenue, Turnstone Development Corporation Is Requesting The Following Amendment: For Zoning Change From B-1 Retail Business District To R-3(A) Special Residence District Carried

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Public Works to auction a 1998 10 ton dump truck thru Obenauf Auction; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Motion To Approve Public Works To Auction A 1998 10 Ton Dump Truck Thru Obenauf Auction Carried

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve a Raffle License to sell tickets for the City of Northlake’s 2017 Car Raffle; seconded by Alderman Padilla. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Nays: None

Motion To Approve A Raffle License To Sell Tickets For The City Of Northlake’s 2017 Car Raffle Carried

Alderman Patti made a motion to refer to the City of Northlake Zoning Board of Appeals and Plan Commission. In order to build a car wash building constructed of high quality material at 2100 Mannheim Road, Corporate Design and Development Group, LLC. is requesting the following: Special use: to build and operate a car wash. Variance for the front yard of 10 foot relief on the setback to allow for pavement and the vacuum canopy to be constructed within the setback area; seconded by Alderman Contreras.
