County board committee to discuss plan to buy property for new health clinic

The Cook County Board's Asset Management Committee will consider a proposal to purchase property for a new health care clinic, during the committee's next meeting 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Cook County Building Board Room 569, 118 N. Clark St.

The Cook County Board of Commissioners is a legislative body made up of 17 commissioners who are elected by district for four-year terms. Cook County, which includes the City of Chicago, is the nation's second-largest county, with a population of 5.2 million residents. The county board sets policy and laws for the county regarding property, public health services, public safety and maintenance of county highways.

NOTICE AND AGENDA

There will be a meeting of the Committee or Subcommittee of the Board of Commissioners of Cook County at the

date, time and location listed above to consider the following:

PUBLIC TESTIMONY

Authorization as a public speaker shall only be granted to those individuals who have submitted in writing, their

name, address, subject matter, and organization (if any) to the Secretary 24 hours in advance of the meeting. Duly

authorized public speakers shall be called upon to deliver testimony at a time specified in the meeting agenda.

Authorized public speakers who are not present during the specified time for public testimony will forfeit their

allotted time to speak at the meeting. Public testimony must be germane to a specific item(s) on the meeting agenda,

and the testimony must not exceed three minutes; the Secretary will keep track of the time and advise when the time

for public testimony has expired. Persons authorized to provide public testimony shall not use vulgar, abusive, or

otherwise inappropriate language when addressing the Board; failure to act appropriately; failure to speak to an

item that is germane to the meeting, or failure to adhere to the time requirements may result in expulsion from the

meeting and/or disqualify the person from providing future testimony.

PROPOSED EXECUTIVE SESSION

Purpose of Executive Session: Requesting permission to discuss with the Asset Management Committee in

executive session the possible acquisition of property to be utilized by the Cook County Ambulatory & Community

Health Network, (ACHN) for a primary health care clinic.

This request for a closed meeting is made pursuant to an exception to the Open Meetings Act, 5 ILCS

120/2(c)(6).

This is a Comparable Government Procurement pursuant to Section 34-140 of the Cook County Procurement Code.

Graybar Electric Company Inc. was previously awarded a contract through a Request for Proposals (RFP) process

through U.S. Communities, a national government purchasing cooperative sponsored by the National Association

of Counties (NACo) and the National Institute of Government Purchasing (NIGP), and in cooperative with the

County of Los Angeles. U.S. Communities is a group purchasing organization which services public agencies,

and its procurements are led by public procurement agencies. Cook County wishes to leverage this procurement

effort.
