Cook County’s Zoning and Building Committee considered requests for special-use permits and variances at a recent meeting.

Bureau of Economic Development Chief Michael Jasso reported on a Mount Prospect property located in Elk Grove Township and owned by United Airlines Inc. Real Estate. United’s goal is to operate a parking facility at the 1200 Dempster Street address for its trucks and oversize on-road vehicles.

The committee made a recommendation for a list of conditions to be met. It was noted that the Village of Mount Prospect submitted a formal protest to the plans, objecting to the granting of a special-use permit for United in November.

Jasso also presented a recommendation pertaining to a single-family home at 14651 Linder Avenue in Midlothian, within Bremen Township. Property owners Thomas and Virginia Corsi are seeking a variance to increase their fence height from 6 to 8 feet in their yard. The committee recommended granting the variance unconditionally.

County Commissioner Peter Silvestri presented an application, under his sponsorship, to rezone a parcel from single-family residential to restricted industrial status at 10 Higgins Road in Park Ridge. The property is owned by the Park Ridge Veterans Club, VFW Post 3579. No action was recorded yet on this application.
