The Forest Preserves of Cook County will host an afternoon of free, family-friendly outdoor activities noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Thatcher Woods, 8030 W. Chicago Ave., in River Forest.
The event, part of the county's Winter Exploration Days program, includes nature hiking on snowshoes, sledding, winter crafts and a campfire (weather permitting).
