Proviso Township High School's District 209 board congratulated the 23 Proviso Math and Science Academy (PMSA) seniors who have been named Illinois State Scholars from the Class of 2016, during a recent board meeting.
Illinois State Scholars are chosen from the top 10 percent of Illinois high school students based on scores from the SAT, ACT or Prairie State Achievement Exam and/or their class rank at the end of their junior year.
The PMSA students selected this year are part of a class of nearly 19,000 students from across the state, representing 62 percent of the district's overall selection. Fourteen students from other district schools also were selected.
The PMSA honorees included Charles Calvert, Andrea Delgado, Jesus Flores, Michelle Fulgencio, Hannah Galloway, Julisa Galvan, Lizbeth Garcia, Maksim Giljen, Alexandra Gomez, Kalen Gray, Karla Guzman, Michael Lemus, Angelica Minguez, Ashley Mitchell, Leslie Mora, Andres Munoz, Felicia Oduh, Vincent Puente, Zachary Redis, Erick Rodriguez, Cristian Roman, William Sanchez and Cristian Zaragoza.
